The secondary education programs prepare teachers to teach specific subjects in a secondary school. Endorsements for secondary are valid for teaching specific subjects in the areas of preparation. When departmentalized instruction is offered in an elementary school, this endorsement is valid for such instruction in grades five and six in the endorsed subjects only. (Regulations of the Connecticut State Board of Education; Effective July 1, 2003)
Students must choose a major corresponding to the certification endorsement sought.
Note: Both History and Social Sciences majors lead to certification in History/Social Studies
