Graduate Open House

Thursday October 12, 2006

Student Center: Bellin Gallery/Alumni Hall.

4:00 – 5:00 p.m.   Information Session with peer/faculty advisors.

5:00 – 5:45 p.m.   Formal Presentation followed by Q&A.

5:45 – 6:30 p.m.   Information Session with peer/faculty advisors.

Important Dates for the 2007 Cohort

December 1, 2006 :  Deadline for Application

December 2006 January 2007 :  Interviews conducted on CCSU Campus

February 15, 2007:  Final Selection of 2007 Cohort

May 2007 TBA :  Pre-summer session Weekend

TBA :  Summer session (8:00 - 5:00 M-F for one month, typically beginning in  late June)

What are the costs associated with the program?

Course fees during 2006-2007 are $525 a credit hour and a registration fee of $62.00.  All fees are subject to change and typically increase annually.

Are the GREs required?

Yes. Applicants must take the Graduate Record Exam which includes a writing assessment. To find out more about these tests and where they can be taken go to www.ets.org. When you register to take the GRE test, please request that your scores be sent to our office be selecting Code 3143 for CCSU Ed. D. Educational Leadership.

GRE scores should be submitted by December 1, 2006.

Please note: We can accept scores from examinations taken within the past 6 years, but a writing test (not included as part of the general examination) is required.

Can I become certified through this Ed. D.?

Yes, students who choose the educational administration specialty will complete courses that will lead to the Intermediate Administrator (092) or Supervisor Certificate. With 4 additional courses, students can acquire the Superintendent’s Certificate (093). Certification as a reading consultant (097) is also possible.

What if I graduated from CCSU 6th Year Program
in Educational Leadership or have earned my (092) certificate?

In most instances, graduates from the CCSU 6th Year Program will be able to apply 6th year coursework to meet the 15 credit specialization requirement.  Students whose specialization requirements are waived will complete 48 hours instead of 63.  Other students with the (092) may also be permitted to waive the 15 credit specialization requirement.

Are there restrictions on who can apply for the Program?

Yes, the Department of Higher Education approved the CCSU program with the stipulation that the “program limit its focus to schools and to the preparation of school leaders.”
