Admission to the RN/BSN Program

In addition to meeting all requirements established for admission to Central Connecticut State University, the applicants must also:

As part of CT's articulation plan, students, are awarded 35 credits after taking two courses with a grade of "C" or better in addition to transfer credits.

  1. Admission to the University does not guarantee advancement to upper division nursing courses.

  2. Applicants in their final year of a diploma or associate degree my be accepted on a provisional basis.

Pre-Nursing Eligibility Criteria

Students interested in the BSN program at CCSU must first apply online to CCSU as a pre-nursing student.  Students are admitted in the Fall only.  Applications are reviewed on a rolling admission basis.  Students must meet the criteria listed below in order to be eligible to be accepted to CCSU as a pre-nursing student. Once admitted, students complete the first year, fall semester sequence of courses. They then become eligible to apply to the program the following spring semester.

Nursing Program Admission Requirements

Admission to the Nursing Program is expected to be highly competitive and meeting the following minimum criteria does not guarantee admission. Priority will be given to CCSU first year pre-Nursing majors and CCSU students who have changed their major to pre-Nursing.  In order to be eligible to apply to the program, students must have completed the first year fall sequence of courses, or be accepted as a transfer student having completed the required pre-re courses making them eligible to apply to the program.

  • Submission of all application materials to the Nursing program by March 1
  • Matriculation at CCSU
  • Completion of a minimum of 14 credits
  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.70 at CCSU and a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.7 for all undergraduate coursework taken at all institutions (including CCSU)
  • A grade of "C" or better in CHEM 150: Chemistry of Allied Health I
  • A grade of "B-" or better in NRSE 110 : Introduction to Nursing Theories
